The Best BMW 1-Series Coupe 2011

Carmagazine talks It will be positioned between the regular 135i Coupe and the M3. The SuperSport model will be a performance addition to the 1er family, resulting in the use of lightweight materials, such as a Carbon Fibre Roof and bootlid , loss of certain cabin comforts , upgraded suspension and brakes , lightweight glass. The front-grille will go through a major redesign where the twin kidneys will be positioned upside down. The 135i Supersport will have an extravagant, unique design, newly designed headlights with front-end elements imported from the Rolls-Royce models as well.

The car will still be built inside the “Motorsports labs”. They go on by mentioned the BMW 135i Supersport, the new 1 Series Coupe that will be released in 2012, an M1 type of car but without the Motorsport badge on it. Well, today, Carmagazine UK runs a story on the 2011 BMW 1 Series and other bimmer models. Our source say that he has a close relationship with BMW and most of the time, he sees the car sketches before many other people. 2011 BMW 1 Series rendering At the same time, I said that in the past, Huckfeldt, the famous rendering artist from AutoBild, has been right about many BMW models. It was one of our most controversial articles in 2009 and not many of you believed in what we said: yes, the next 1 Series will look somewhat along these lines and it will be one of the most revolutionary BMW designs, a risky design as some may call it. We have been saying this for a while and even showed you some rather odd renderings of what the next generation 2011 BMW 1 Series might look like.

All 128i models will retain the The new gearbox will cost $200 more than the $1375 optional automatic, but it should make the coupe and convertible even quicker. Both 135i body styles are dropping their conventional six-speed automatic in favor of BMW’s new seven-speed dual-clutch DCT automated manual transmission. The 2010 135i ragtop returns the same city mileage but ekes out an extra mpg on the highway.

We’ve yet to see any fuel-economy numbers for the 2011 135i models, but the current coupe is rated at 17 mpg city and 25 highway. The engine replaces the old N54 3.0-liter twin-turbo six, and BMW claims it offers both greater efficiency and reduced emissions while delivering the same 300 hp and 300 lb-ft of torque. The biggest news for the 1-series concerns its mechanicals: Like the 2011 X6 xDrive35i and 335i, the 135i coupe and convertible will get BMW’s new N55 3.0-liter single-turbo inline-six. Changes Under the Surface OK, perhaps we’re harping on the leather thing too much.

It’s true, all 2011 1-series models can be fitted with the totally gratis Value package previously offered on the 2009 5-series and 328i/xi—which not only adds cowhide seat coverings, but iPod integration, too. And so we welcome this minor bit of news: buyers of the BMW 1-series now will be able to opt for leather seats at no charge. Well, we hate the rude ones.) Nowadays, extended leather packages can be selected to cover the dashboard, infotainment controllers, and more, and Porsche buyers can even get their vent slats covered in the stuff. (OK, we don’t really hate cows.

It’s easy to clean, is almost always paired with seat heaters, and we hate cows. Give us leather upholstery any day.

Stiffer springs and custom rolling stock are also part of the package, to say nothing of the exquisitely crafted interior. Mechanically, the Latigo is essentially the same as the M6 up which it is based, but Fisker managed to cut out some excess weight and enlisted the services of tuning house RDSport to tune the high-revving 5.0-liter V10 engine up to 648 horsepower.

Only 150 examples of each were made, and one of the latter a post revision 2008 model has now popped up for grabs on eBay. New Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland UK Version 2011

All are available with rear-wheel drive or different versions of Jeep's all wheel drive systems, as well as V6 or There are three versions of the Grand Cherokee: Laredo, Limited and Overland. Standard equipment includes 20-inch wheels; the 18-inchers are more suited to off road duty. To make your Grand Cherokee "trail rated," you simply check the box for the adventure package, a $1,000 option that includes off-road tires on 18-inch wheels, underbody skid plates, tow hooks and a full service spare wheel and tire.

It is available both as a crossover that likely is more capable in adverse conditions than most competitors, with unit body construction and all wheel drive, and as an all out "trail rated" sport utility vehicle that can handle just about any terrain accessible to motor vehicles. That approach now also is carried over to the flagship Grand Cherokee. The latter now fit into the burgeoning crossover strain, characterized by all weather all wheel drive but modest capabilities away from the pavement. What remains is a bifurcated lineup, with "trail rated" models fully capable of legendary Jeep off road prowess, and the remainder less so.

It was an acknowledgement that not everybody needed boulder crawling capabilities but still wanted four wheel drive and, perhaps, the cachet of owning a Jeep. But in recent years, to broaden its appeal, Jeep removed muscle from some of its models. Ever since its debut in World War II, Jeep has nurtured its reputation as the planet's popular priced go anywhere conveyance. So the Grand Cherokee might better be described as a mixed breed that was as programmed as a test tube baby.

But a mutant, by definition, is unplanned. If the 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee were organic, it would be a mutant, part crossover and part sport utility vehicle.

2011 Interior Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland

But despite the lowered highway height, the V8 is Even with its near-5,000 pound weight, the Grand Cherokee Overland model had plenty of punch off the line. It also automatically lowers the ride height slightly at highway speeds for better fuel economy. In the boondocks it can increase the ground clearance to nearly 11 inches.

It automatically levels the Grand Cherokee at all four corners and can be manually adjusted to raise and lower the ride height by as much as 4.1 inches. Also part of the package is an air suspension system, which Jeep calls Quadra Lift. Surprisingly, the sport mode also delivers a supple ride, not creamy by any definition but comfortable enough for all-day cruising on rutted roads. The last is performance oriented for on road driving; it tightens the suspension system and recalibrates shift points for a sporting rear drive handling feel.

Included in the Quadra Drive all wheel drive system is Jeep's Selec Terrain system, which enables the driver to choose among five modes for different conditions: automatic, mud/sand, rock, snow and sport. It is linked to a five speed automatic transmission with a manual shift mode, which works well enough but gives up bragging rights to competitors, most of which now have six-speed automatics. The V8 engine is the famed "hemi," pioneered by Chrysler Corp., but the name no longer is used on Jeeps; it is reserved for Dodge and Chrysler models. Before World War I it became one of the country's biggest car companies and later was one of the manufacturers that built Jeeps in World War II.

The company started building cars in 1903 and later was taken over by Willys to form Willys Overland. The Overland model designation resurrects a famous name from the past.

The 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Torsional rigidity has been increased 146%. Variablerate rear springs improve on oad handling and comfort, and the spare tire is stored inside as opposed to underneath. [Allpar was first to report this.] The independent front and rear suspensions have isolated cradles.

It would "have to be a completely different application," but would still be an SUV. The Dodge Durango is an extended-wheelbase version; and, during a Novmeber 8 call, Sergio Marchionne said that the architecture would probably be adapted by Alfa or Maserati. Thanks to the Hemi option, the V6 has a large engine bay, with around five inches in front of the serpentine belt. The Hemi is optional across the board, and Europeans have a new VM Motori 3-liter V6 diesel; all use the W5A580 five-speed transmission. The standard engine is the 290 horsepower Pentastar V6, which gets just 1 mile per gallon less than the diesel powered Mercedes ML350, and is smoother than competitors’ engines.

Desing GMC Sierra All Terrain HD Concept 2011

The capability enhancing attributes of the Sierra All Terrain HD build on the already outstanding capabilities offered in the all new production Sierra HD trucks, said Lisa The concept’s running gear makes good use of the Sierra’s overhauled boxed ladder frame, shocks, springs and axles that were introduced for the 2011 model year. Suspension As with all off road pickups, the heart of the All Terrain HD is its suspension. The short box crer cab Sierra All Terrain HD threads the needle between the half-ton Raptor and three quarter ton Ram 2500 Power Wagon by carving a new niche that blends the off road prowess and features of the Ford and Ram trucks with a few new innovations. This is where GMC smells opportunity.

But these traits make an apples-to-apples comparison of the trucks difficult because their off road strengths lie at opposite ends of the wheeling spectrum. The Raptor flies across the desert at high speed, like a Baja trophy truck, while the Power Wagon can rock crawl over the toughest terrain you’ll find in Moab. We love both because these purpose built rigs can go places and do things off pavement that would kill lesser trucks within yards of the trailhead. The light duty Raptor and heavy-duty Power Wagon are two of the most capable off road pickup trucks ever to jump or climb off the showroom floor. The diesel powered GMC Sierra All Terrain Heavy Duty Concept which will debut next month at the 2011 Detroit auto show points to how the “professional grade” brand thinks it might deliver a credible competitor to the Ford F-150 SVT Raptor and the Ram 2500 Power Wagon in the current or next generation Sierra HD. Could GMC add a halo off road truck to its full-size pickup lineup?

GMC Sierra All Terrain HD Concept 2011

A slick new piece of suspension The Sierra All Terrain also has an electronic front stabilizer bar disconnect. The Ram features a front sway bar disconnect system that increases wheel travel and articulation to climb over tall obstacles. The All Terrain HD also borrows a cool trick for its front suspension from the straight axle Power Wagon. We wouldn’t be surprised if this latest Fox development effort causes a major rift with Ford, which brought prominence and high volume production expertise to Fox in OEM off road applications.

While Ram doesn’t offer Fox shocks for the Power Wagon, Chrysler Mopar performance parts division will also feature Fox Shocks as part of its aggressive Ram Runner dealer installed off road package for the light duty Ram 1500. In the Sierra, Fox’s long travel dampers add 2 inches more travel up front (11 inches total) and 3 inches in the rear (11.75 inches total) over the Sierra’s stock monotube shocks. There are no external bypass tubes to be damaged by offroad debris striking them; there are no worries about check valve durability; and the shocks can be tuned specifically to the Sierra All Terrain’s off road character. Hardcore off-roaders might not like this setup, but it solves several potential issues both for GMC and for less obsessive desert running enthusiasts. The valves have been replaced with very small gates, precisely placed for optimal damping in all conditions.

Instead of placing the oil routers outside the shocks, Fox sealed them inside the main tube so that they can’t be adjusted. Fox Racing’s internal bypass technology is slick and maintenance free. Fox’s shocks are the key components that give the Raptor such awesome wheel travel at high speeds off-road. If GMC wanted to get Ford’s attention, this should do it.

Lexus IS 350 AWD First Impressions 2011

There's an optional Navigation system with voice Standard gadgetry includes the Safety Connect telematics system, 13-speaker sound system, Bluetooth, satellite radio, an auxiliary jack and iPod/USB connectivity. At 13 cubic feet, the available trunk space is average for its segment. The centre stack is well-designed with straightforward instrumentation but the backup camera hasn't the same clarity of some other high end marques.

There are subtle metallic accents on gauge bezels and steering wheel and genuine wood trim on the centre console that would be lovely if it weren't so glossy. Soft-touch materials are top-notch quality, and add to the sense of acoustic hush. Black leather seats are supple and supportive although the long-legged might find the rear seating rather cramped. Inside, our tester's cabin is refined, if a bit dark. Head and tail lamps are revised, with the added drama of distinctive LED "arrowhead" running lights similar to Audi's.

It's a more aggressive look, with dramatic shoulder lines, and a sharply chiselled front end with reworked grille and integrated chin spoiler with upright foglamps. Outwardly, the model refresh is subtle, yet significant. With the introduction of the IS 350 AWD, Canadian drivers don't have to give up their extra horsepower or look elsewhere for foul-weather sure-footedness. Until now, Lexus aficionados looking to add the security of all wheel drive to their favourite luxury sedan were offered only one choice; the less potent IS 250. Narrow, tightly winding and slick with the cold fall rain, the route nicely caps off a day spent test driving the new Lexus IS 350 AWD.

Seven kilometres long, the Muskoka Beach Road snakes through the rocky outcroppings and dense woods that line the Muskoka Lake shoreline.
